Politeness seems to be disappearing in today’s civilization, but you wouldn’t think that when you first meet Saphira. Her first impression never really shows who she is, at all. She knows how to use manners, and she actually does use them, and she’ll be one of the nicest and caring people who would think that you would ever meet, but that’s only one side of her. It’s the side that most strangers see, the sweet innocent little girl who could never do anything wrong, right? You’d be surprised.
It might take a while, but sooner or later, you figure out that Saphira isn’t as sunshine and daisy’s as you expected. She absolutely loves anything dark and twisted. Watching things die? Hell yes, it looks awesome, might as well watch it, because to her it’s better than a movie. Saph can find the dark side of just about anything, and loves to go into full detail about the twistedness of things. She might be nice at first, but after a while, you find out that if you were dying or hurt, she would just laugh and watch, and maybe even make it worse, just for her own amusement. Her parents kinda forgot that lesson on manners.
Being an Execution Squad member is very important to Saphira. She would never give it up for the world, but she also would never tell anyone for the world. She doesn’t want people to start hating her and trying to kill her just because they find out what she’s a part of. Saphira fully believes in the games, and thinks that they are doing the right thing. People who don’t want to live, shouldn’t be able to, and people need to learn how to get over things and be better people. Though, she does fear that he love of watching people die and seeing others in pain might make her a victim of the games one day, she seriously doubts it. Since she is in fact a Squad member.
Besides loving people bleed and watching them die, she does have some normal interests. Listening to music and playing bass guitar are some things that she absolutely loves, and would probably attack you if you didn’t let her do them, or took ‘em away. She’s more protective of them than of most things, and definitely more than her friends. Besides music, playing and having fun are extremely important to her, but that’s probably the monkey in her, literally.

When a shape-shifter and a witch get together, you never really know what the baby is going to turn out to be. It’s a fifty-fifty chance, so when little Saphira Icess Ballato was born, they didn’t know if she was going to be a witch like her mother, or a shape-shifter like her father. It didn’t take them long to realize which one though, no, it only took a few minutes, because shortly after she was born, Saph changed shape into a black spider monkey, then quickly back to her human form. Luckily for them, no one was looking at the time, but it was a close call.
It was almost as if that was a warning for her parents, a warning that she wasn’t going to be the easiest child to take care of, and there were going to be a lot of close calls. Which (much to her parent’s dislike) there just happened to be an extremely high number of. Even as a baby, her parents had to be careful where they took her, because half the time she would change into a monkey in the middle of the street, and then when she changed back, she was naked (one of the downsides of shape-shifting, your clothes are never on when you shift back, at least not for Saphira). So, for most of her childhood, Saphira was kept inside, so that they wouldn’t be exposed for what they were.
Despite always choosing the worst times to shape-shift, Saphira was actually normally very well behaved. Having to spend so much time inside, her mother made sure to teach her manners, and to drill them into her. She succeeded, and practically made little Saphira sleep, eat, and breathe manners. Her mother just must have left out not laughing at people being hurt part, and that you shouldn’t enjoy others pain. Other than that, manners were something that she had, and she stuck with, at first it was in fear that her mother would cast a spell on her if she didn’t (which she wouldn’t put past her mom, she had seen her do it to her dad countless times, and she had done it to her a few times for misbehaving)., but after awhile, it was just instinct, she didn’t know how not to do it.
Going to public school wasn’t the easiest thing in the world for Saphira, she had to learn that she couldn’t turn into a monkey whenever she wanted, which was a very hard lesson for her to learn, because half the time she preferred being in monkey form. Saphira did okay in school, but she was always caught looking out the window wanting to be outside, but she was well behaved and always nice to everyone, and was the one who always got mad when people started acting out and being rude to the teacher. Though her favorite part of school was in first grade, when she was on the playground, a kid fell off of the monkey bars and blood was splattered everywhere and he was still bleeding, Saphira couldn’t keep her eyes off of it, she was transfixed by it. It made her feel happy and nice, and really good.
After that, Saphira was pretty much obsessed with learning about anything that was considered ‘out of the ordinary’ or ‘strange’. Watching dark movies and people dying interested her, which did scare her parents a bit. Though, when the first Saw movie came out, she made her parents take her, and she fell in love with it. That scared her parents, well, that and the fact that she agreed with everything in the movie and with what Jigsaw was doing, and how he was doing it. her parents knew right then that she would probably be in the Execution Squad, because they had gone to Forevermore and knew what went on, though they were never in the games or in the squad.
When it was time for Saphira to come to Forevermore, she was more than glad to come. Being able to be in monkey shape whenever she wanted? Hell yeah. Twisted games where people could die horrible deaths? Fuck yes, sounded awesome. Almost as soon as she entered the school she was called up to the office, and asked to be on the Execution Squad, apparently her parents had already talked to them about her interests.
