In Los Angeles, California a war has been brewing for hundreds of years. Hunters and vampires have somehow managed to go undetected by normal humans, even through the constant hunting and killing. To those who believe they exist, vampires are thought of as monsters, half-dead beasts who have no right to remain in the human world, feeding off the blood of the living. But not everything is what it seems.
There are a few vampires who do not feed off the life of the living. Instead, they sustain themselves via animal blood. They completely ignore the instinct to feed on humans, in an attempt to live alongside the living. Their secret is kept safe by only them and those closest to them. They hide their true identities with all of their might, only letting their secret out to those they trust the most, and sometimes not even to them. If a human, especially a hunter, uncovers the truth of a vampire's secret on their own, all hell could break loose for them.
And there are, of course, the other vampires who are truly the blood-sucking monsters that legends and hunters make them out to be. They barely keep their identities under wraps, unafraid of letting themselves loose on the public to get their fill of human flesh and blood. They fear nothing, but give hunters a wide berth. Why go looking for true death when you can live forever? LA and the surrounding areas are teeming with murderous vampires out for blood... and not animal blood. The living pushed them out of society, took away everything, considered them nothing more than stories, fairy tails, myths. As if no longer being able to step in the sun was bad enough, they were no longer real. Humans thought they could just close their eyes and ignore the fact that some of their own kind were changing into half-dead monsters. Revenge is all these creatures think about now, and they will have revenge on the humans, even if it means going against their own kind.
And who is it that fuels this war more than most? The hunters, the very humans that know they still exist and try to rid the world of them. Hunting has become an increasingly rare occupation, for so many humans have gone blind to the world of the undead. The hunters don't care if a vampire drinks human blood or not; if it has fangs and no heartbeat, a hunter will send it from the world of the living or die trying.
But can this war really be won at all? Is there any way that the vampires and the hunters can live side-by-side, even if it's not harmonious, or will one have to eliminate the other? Is it possible to ignore the myths and legends and learn to see the world for what it truly is, or will ignorance continue to reign over the human world?
