Stand on the edge with me Hold Back your fear and seeNothing is real til it's gone Almost everywhere that Saphira went, it seemed to be crowded with kids, trying to enjoy the winter and that they had just finished their last class of the day. Saphira was trying to do just that also, be glad that the school day was done with and that it was now the weekend. She just didn’t like that it was hard to find a place to be that wasn’t crawling with other teens. Making her way through the crowd, she lost count of how many time she said ‘excuse me’ or ‘I’m sorry’ for accidentally bumping into someone. She needed to get away from these people for a while, otherwise her mask might fall. She hadn’t seen someone pleading for life in too long, and she really didn’t like that. Just walking through and hearing bits and pieces of some conversations going on, she thought that just about all of them could use a good douse of being in the games. They might reconsider complaining about every little thing then and just be glad to be alive.
She knew exactly where she was going as she walked through all of the different crowds, one of the few places that she knew wouldn’t be full of people and she felt safe in; the forest. Her last class though was one of the farthest away from the forest, which Saphira was not very pleased with. People seemed to not notice her as she walked pass them, not even when she actually spoke and said ‘excuse me’ or asked them to move so she could get past. She really was use to this by now, but she was starting to get fed up with it right now. She was just about to give up and just go back to her dorm and let her pet monkey Jaz boss her around by making her play with her, when she saw the forest nearly ten feet in front of her.
A small smile curled onto her face, as she quickened her pace, brushing past anyone near her (which wasn’t that many anymore) and going straight into the forest. She preferred rainforests, but this was as close as she could get, so she would take it. just as she had suspected, the forest was deserted, except for the animals that resided there, from what she could tell anyway. Saphira continued walking, occasionally looking up at the trees. She loved how tall they were, they seemed to block out all light and just go on forever, she loved that about them. she also liked that they didn’t talk and complain about how their boyfriend broke up with them or that they broke a nail or that this person was cheating on that person.
At the base of one of the many trees, Saphira’s walking halted. This tree was a bit shorter than the rest, and it’s branches were actually low enough to climb. Not many trees in this forest had that low of branches. Saphira took this chance to get onto the tree’s lowest branch, which was only about five feet off the ground, which wasn’t much to her. She quickly made her way to the next branch a few feet up and from that one to the one about five feet above it. It was then that she decided to stop; she was already at least thirteen feet above the ground. Saphira sat herself down, holding onto the branch, and looked down at the ground. If anyone came along, she would be able to see it, but she wasn’t sure if anyone would.

it gets wild, yeah, but that's the way WE GET DOWN, IN A HICKTOWN. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amelia stalked out of the building, simply fuming from the previous class. Sessions were finished for the day, since she was kicked out of class, but they were still burned into her head. Some random asshole in her previous class had thought it funny to persistently peg her in the head with mini paper balls. It was quite the opposite of humorous; well for him at least. Amelia was nice at first, and simply growled under her breathe. He laughed harder at this. Her rumbling growl grew. His buddies chuckled at her display and began whispering. Amelia was just close enough to catch the word spit before the wet glob hit the side of her tanned face. That was it.
Amelia spun to the left in her chair, right arm already outstretched and forming a fist. The second it made contact, there was a wet thwack sound. Apparently she had hit him too hard. No real damage was done, kind of comes with the whole superhuman thing. His friends laughed it off while he scowled. Lia gave a sarcastic pout and wiggled her head in the ‘ha’ way before turning back in her seat. The teacher ignored the display, but then again, it’s hard to catch punches when the they hit and retract in less than fifteen seconds. He spoke a few words which in turn made Amelia throw a few comments. All of which very vulgar and leaving everyone silent. Of course the teacher caught this. That’s why she was on her way through the courtyard right now. How dare they throw me out...
Lia walked over the cobble stone courtyard, making way to her freedom: the forest. It had been days since her last run and her muscles were growing anxious just thinking about it. As Amelia neared the edge of the trees, she removed her shoes and held them in her left hand as she entered the brush. After around thirty or so feet, she set her shoes down and began to strip. Pants, shirt, bra, underwear; Lia set them, folded, in a pile on top of her shoes. She pulled her sunglasses off her head and placed them there as well. Amelia sighed and put her arms above her head, interlacing her hands, and stretched. The movement felt wonderful on her overactive body.
The bell sounded through the silence, signaling the arrival of fellow students. Better hurry... Amelia began running deeper into the forest, watching the green and brown of the foliage blend together. She couldn’t take it anymore and dropped to her knees. As soon as she hit the floor, she began to shift. She didn’t even need to concentrate. Amelia’s body morphed and contorted, now resembling a shaved lion. Then the fur came in; black, silky hair began sprouting and moved like a wave from the tip of her dry nose to the tip of her tail; and everywhere in between. When it was done, she bowed onto her forelimbs, leaving her bottom in the air and her tail gently swishing back and forth. After a moment, Lia began walking again. The walk turned to a trot, and seconds later she broke into a full blown run.
Darting sharply around trees and jumping onto stumps and large tree trunks, Amelia enjoyed her long awaited freedom. Then she smelt it. A human... well, a human form, that is. Lazily trotting to prolong the feeling, she made her way back near the forest edge. As the scent grew stronger, she slowed, inhaling deeply, making her nostrils flare. Her trot slowed even more, practically a walk. Nearing the origin, Lia realized there wasn’t anything there. But then she heard a relaxed sigh and looked up. A few trees away, perhaps thirteen feet from the ground, a girl sat leisurely on a branch, one leg hanging down. Amelia sat down loudly, making sure the girl heard, and huffed, her tail twitching and making the leaves crunch.

Stand on the edge with me Hold Back your fear and seeNothing is real til it's gone Saphira loved the view from the trees. It was always one of her more favorite things about them, she liked being high up in the trees looking down at everyone. She wasn’t as high as she normally was right now, and she didn’t really like it as much, but she wasn’t going to try and climb any higher not in monkey form. It was a rare thing that she hadn’t yet switched to her monkey form, she was normally in monkey form more than she was in human form, but she didn’t feel like it just yet. She wanted to be able to use her ability to talk first if someone showed up.
Her eyes were focused on the forest floor; nothing was in sight right now. It wasn’t exactly that surprising though, not everyone liked the forest. She didn’t exactly know why, or understand that at all, but she just knew that not everyone was as fond of the forest as she was. Though the forest was like her second home, so it was hard to be a species that didn’t live in forests and like it better than her. Looking at the all the leaves on the ground, she couldn’t help but start to compare this forest to the ones of the rainforest she went to over the summer with her father. This was nothing compared to the rainforest, it was a thread while the rainforest was the shirt, but this was the best she got right now.
A small sigh escaped her lips, right before she heard a noise. A really loud one. Looking in the direction where the noise had come from, her eyes landed on a black panther. She chuckled softly, staring at the creature with a smile plastered on her face. “Why hello, didn’t know anyone else was here.” she stated simply. Saphira took a few seconds to take in how the panther looked, "You have a very pretty coat.” Saphira liked the color black, and she knew it was normally better to start of with being nice to someone.

it gets wild, yeah, but that's the way WE GET DOWN, IN A HICKTOWN. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amelia was only slightly winded from her brief frolic, so her breathing was quite even as she sat on the dead foliage. Her tail twitched uncontrollably, making a leaves stir and crunch. The girl let out a small laugh as she finally caught sight of Amelia. Smiling, the girl spoke nothing but the truth. Amelia wasn’t aware that anyone was out here either, and attempted to shrug her shoulders. She normally never encountered someone; not many enjoyed, nor appreciated, the beauty and simplicity of the forest. It was wonderfully quite, allowing a place to think outside of one’s dorm. In a word, utterly peaceful. Whenever she came out here, whether she shifted or not, she felt at home. Though she missed her family, and brothers, the forest made her closer to them. Perhaps it was the sense of freedom they used to share.
Amelia scoffed at her next comment, "You have a very pretty coat." rolling her emerald eyes and huffing air in an attempt to laugh. Knowing she was most likely just being nice, it amused Amelia to hear this. Then again, to someone that doesn’t turn into a larger than standard size panther, it was a pretty coat. Glossy black and silky smooth to the touch - if she allowed anyone to touch it - it was quite pretty indeed. But to her and her brothers it was just fur. A means to keep warm during runs in the winter and after swimming in the mountain lakes that ran a chilly average of forty-two degrees. But a compliment was a compliment, and Amelia had a feeling the girl was being genuine.
She stood and walked towards the tree, swishing her tail behind her. As Amelia reached the tree, she placed her front paws on the trunk, about three feet off the ground. Raising her head, she placed it under the girl’s foot and rubbed like a house cat would a person’s hand. Amelia pushed her head up sharply, making the foot slip of her head. Pushing off the tree, she turned around in mid-air, making way to the opposite side of the clearing. After walking about fifteen feet, she turned her head to face the girl and jerked back to the way she was going. Amelia wanted to talk and hoped she understood that she wanted her to follow her.
She didn’t quite feel like walking all the way back here in human form after shifting and dressing. That would take to much time, and Amelia was already hungry from the burst of energy and shifting. She hadn’t even eaten lunch yet. Come to think of it, Amelia was practically starving, and almost as if on command, her stomach growled. Aims jumped at the noise like a deer, then shook her head and snorted at her foolish reaction. She twitched her tail left to right once more, then turned her face forward and began walking again at a slow pace.
